Information about the Veterans Coalition of North Central Texas (VCNCT):
Mobilize all sectors of society to give our service members and their families the opportunities and support they have earned.
Build bridges between local community resources, national resources, veterans, and their families to reintegrate, rebuild, educate, and equip returning veterans.
Plan of Action
- Identify gaps in services and resources. Compare identified services to identified need. Develop programs to meet the identified need. Become a "Gap Filler" by connecting veterans to needed resources.
- Identify barriers to receipt of mental health care by returning military service members and veterans. Evaluate current resources for mental health needs. Identify strategies for establing and maintaining a therapeutic alliance by understanding military culture. Demonstrate the ability to call attention to the mental health needs of a veteran and their family members. Work with the Armed Forces on a ground level to compliment services provided. Identify frames of mental health assessment and treatment options for military personnel. Build a network of licensed providers to provide therapeutic services.
- Identify and understand how family relationships are impacted by mobilization, deployment, and redeployment. Conduct ongoing bench mark studies of veterans and their needs. Identify services available for veterans and their families, including those provided by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and TRICARE. Partner with reserve units, armories, military base, and military leadership on "best practices".
