About the VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System
About this Facility
The Department of Veterans Affairs recognized the need for an expansion of Veterans' health care services in Deep South Texas and approved the formation of a new health care system encompassing twenty counties comprised of the Laredo, McAllen, Harlingen, and Corpus Christi service areas. The name of this new health care system is the VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System (VATVCBHCS) and this new system officially activated on October 1, 2010. The VATVCBHCS leadership team now manages its budget independently from the VA in San Antonio. Decisions on the expansion of programs, hiring of staff, and other key issues are now made locally.
