The Samaritan Center’s mission is to improve the mental, physical and spiritual health of individuals and families in Central Texas.
The Samaritan Center’s primary goal is to provide mental health care and integrative medicine that is accessible and affordable, particularly to low income families and individuals who have little to no health insurance.
Programs & Services
Individual, Youth & Family Counseling and Education – The Center offers counseling for individuals, couples, families and groups of all ages across a full range of mental health, developmental, behavioral, and relationship issues. Our staff is sensitive to spiritual issues and will offer spiritual guidance at the client’s request. Services include individual, group, marriage and family therapy, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing – a specialized trauma therapy). We also offer play and sand tray therapy for children and parenting support. In addition, the Center provides educational presentations and workshops on a variety of topics for businesses, civic organizations and the community at-large to improve our community’s mental health.
Hope for Heroes – Hope for Heroes provides counseling, integrative medicine and peer support to current service members, veterans and military families suffering from the emotional wounds of war. Staff within this program were selected for their extensive military and military family experience, clinical expertise with PTSD and TBI, and competency with the military culture.
Integrative Medicine – The Center’s services include integrative medicine, a balanced and holistic approach to wellness that treats the whole person – mind, body and spirit – and is a complement to talk therapy. Integrative medicine includes acupuncture, massage therapy, herbal medicine, tai chi, meditation, yoga, biofeedback, neurofeedback and nutrition.
The Military Veteran Peer Network – The Texas Military Veteran Peer Network is funded by Texas Department of State Health Services and coordinated from our main office in Austin. It is a network of peer counselors and organizations serving veterans and their families throughout the state. In nearly every Texas County, we have veterans trained as peer counselors who are linking other veterans with support and resources.
