IVMF - Institute for Veterans and Military Families


The IVMF and its staff of more than 50 professionals deliver class-leading programs in career, vocational and entrepreneurship education and training, providing servicemembers, veterans and their families with the skills needed to be successful in education, work and life. The IVMF also coordinates comprehensive collective impact strategies; and works with communities and non-profits to enhance service delivery for veterans and their families.


  • Onward to Opportunity (O2O)-Offered on U.S. military installations across the country, O2O provides in-demand, industry-validated training to transitioning servicemembers, all Guard and Reserve, and active duty spouses who are navigating the transition to civilian employment
  • Veterans Career Transition Program (VCTP)-Advisor-led, on-line learning program, delivered to post 9/11 veterans and military spouses; includes 26 tracks with industry certifications; Career Skills, Project Management and Information Technology are most popular; participants receive a non-credit SU Certificate
  • VetNet – Online resource offering innovative networking tools, career training, job opportunities and entrepreneurship classes-offered at no cost to the veteran and military family communities


  • AmericaServes – Working with communities to develop coordinated networks of care and services for veterans and their families; leverage local leadership in deploying first of its kind collective impact model into communities across the nation
  • Communities of Practice – Facilitate statewide focus and coordination of supportive services for veteran families (SSVF) to encourage the exchange of ideas and best practices, reduce fragmentation and redundancy of efforts


  • Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities (EBV) – Cutting edge entrepreneurship training program for post 9/11 service disabled veterans
  • Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans’ Families (EBV-F) – Provides vocational and economic path forward for military spouses and family members or surviving spouse of a military member who gave his or her life in service to our country
  • Veteran Women Igniting the Spirit of Entrepreneurship (V-WISE) – A premier training program in entrepreneurship and small business management that provides tools, ongoing support and business mentorship to women veterans, active duty servicemembers, and military spouses aspiring to become successful entrepreneurs
  • Boots to Business (B2B) – Provider of SBA’s three-phase entrepreneurial education and training program as part of the Department of Defense’s Transition Assistance Program (TAP). B2B is delivered on installations worldwide
  • Boots to Business Reboot – Modeled after the B2B program, Reboot provides veterans and spouses of all eras with the fundamentals of business
  • Coalition for Veteran Owned Business (CVOB) – A coalition of private sector companies, businesses, NGOs working to increase opportunities for veteran and military family businesses as suppliers to the private sector
  • Center of Excellence (CoE) for Veteran Entrepreneurship – The nation’s premier center of research, trusted thought leadership and innovative programming was created by the IVMF and founding partner, First Data, to advance opportunities for transitioning servicemembers, veterans, and their families in their pursuit of business ownership in America
