Veterans Services

Goodwill Houston provides employment and supportive services to help veterans as they re-integrate into the civilian labor market after military service or overcome other barriers to employment. All vets programs require other-than-dishonorable discharge and at least one day of active military service.

Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program

Partnering with the United States Veterans Initiative-Houston, we provide homeless veterans (unsheltered, temporary housing, facing eviction) with job readiness vocational training and placement. By finding veterans stable employment, we help to break the cycle of homelessness for many veterans and successfully reintegrate them back into mainstream society. 

Veterans Workforce Investment Program (VWIP)

Partnering with the U.S. Department of Labor's Veterans' Workforce Investment Program (VWIP), this program is specifically targeted at "recently separated" veterans who have left the service in the last 48 months - including those returning from tours of duty and Iraq and Afghanistan to a difficult job market. Emphasis is placed on training veterans who are interested in "green jobs" now in the marketplace or expected soon.

Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF)

Provides case management and temporary financial assistance for low-income veteran families who are homeless or at risk of being homeless. Financial assistance for child care, transportation, rental assistance, utility-fee payment assistance, security deposits, utility deposits, moving costs, and emergency supplies is available for eligible veterans. Assistance also includes applying for VA benefits and other programs.
