Capt. Steve Banta, commanding officer of Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, would like to extend an invitation to disabled veterans who may like to come to the 2017 Wings Over South Texas Air Show but have mobility concerns and would prefer to avoid the crowds.
We invite you to attend the air show practice Friday, March 31, being held once again on the NAS Corpus Christi Sea Wall. Visitors will need to provide their own accessibility means - we can provide accessible parking and ramps, but not personal equipment.
Performers will begin their run through at approximately 11 a.m. Please plan to arrive after 10:30 a.m. Slated to perform Friday are civilian and military acts including:
Rob Holland, Trojan Phlyers, Randy Ball , Paul Fiala, MV-22, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Army's Golden Knights, and the headlining act, the U.S. Navy's Blue Angels.
The show Friday will end at about 4 p.m. The practice show is not open to the general public, so we request an RSVP if the disabled veteran needs base access. Information required includes:
*name & contact info, including mobile contact phone number *approximate time of arrival (no earlier than 10:30 a.m., please) *mode of transportation *veterans group associated with, if any
Note, set up for the next day's show will be on-going. The First Class Petty Officers Association will be selling some food and drink, but you may want to bring refreshments to supplement what will be available for purchase.
Please RSVP by Friday, March 24, so we can give Security a heads up.
Thank you! And, we look forward to seeing you here!
